Mosi-ao-Tunya National Park
Mosi-ao-Tunya National Park is
Zambia's smallest National Park although one which
should not be missed. The park was created to
protect not only one of the greatest natural wonders
of the world - the Victoria Falls but also the
rich wildlife of the surrounding area. This is
the only place in Zambia where you are likely
to see Rhino. This is also the only place in Zambia
where you can go on an elephant back safari and
one of the few places where you can safari on
horse back. As most visitors are likely to visit
the Victoria Falls it is worth allowing an extra
day in your itinerary to visit Mosi-ao-Tunya National
Park. It is also home to Buffalo, Eland, Giraffe,
Sable, Lechwe, warthog, wildebeest, Impala, Hippo,
Crocodile and many other species. The Mosi-ao-Tunya,
due to its size is probably the best location
in Africa to spot some of the rarer species.
