Gwembe Safari Lodge
Gwembe Safari Lodge
is the home base camp situated 2 Km South/West
of Choma. Here we have cosy en-suite thatched
rondavels set in pleasant surroundings where you
can relax and put your feet up. Our family-run
lodge is built on a small working farm and provides
a tranquil setting for visitors. The lodge is
a haven for bird-life and we have identified around
120 species of bird. For the more energetic, jogging
tracks, a swimming pool and a volleyball courts
are available. Meals can be prepared on request.

Activities available
include:
Day trips to LOCHINVAR, CHIKANKA
ISLAND, GWEMBE CROC FARM, VICTORIA FALLS and the
CHOMA MUSEUM. Fishing, water sport activities
on Lake Kariba.
Lake View Chalets
Not far off the beaten track
is ' LAKE VIEW ' where we have three thatched
en-suite cottages all with a breathtaking view
of LAKE KARIBA. There is a kitchen and dining
room set amongst the trees.
A paddling pool is also set amongst
the rocks where small children can easily be monitored.
Fishing is good in the surrounding
bays. The wind is usually fair and teady for those
who have sails and there are several small beaches
for those who don't.
This is an ideal destination
for self drive fanatics especially if you have
your own boat. There is a permanent slip-way and
a good harbour.

Chikanka Island
Chikanka Island
is an archipelago of three islands. These cover
about 600 acres depending on the lake level. The
Islands are populated with a variety of wildlife
such as Zebra, Kudu, Waterbuck, Hippo and other
smaller game. Activities include game walks, bird
watching, fishing and canoeing. CHIKANKA ISLAND
is also a stargazer's paradise and a perfect escape
for the true African bush lover.
The en-suite A-frame chalets
are situated on the Eastern Shore with a breathtaking
view of the sunrise over the lake. The spacious
thatched dining area is situated on the waters
edge where our friendly and attentive staff are
on call for both catered and self-catering groups.
Power is supplied by solar panels to preserve
the exquisite tranquillity of the camp.
Fishing opportunities for Bream
and Tiger fish are excellent. Day trips to Chete
Bird Sanctuary are also possible. Here it is possible
to take a game drive or walking safari.
